The story of Panda Express is rooted in the journey of the Cherng family, who immigrated to the United States with a dream of sharing their culinary heritage. In 1973, Andrew Cherng and his father, Master Chef Ming Tsai Cherng, opened the first Panda Inn in Pasadena, California. Despite initial challenges, their dedication to hospitality and innovation laid the groundwork for what would become a global phenomenon. In 1983, recognizing the growing demand for fast, casual dining, Andrew and his wife Peggy launched the first Panda Express at the Glendale Galleria. This marked the beginning of a new era in American Chinese cuisine, blending traditional flavors with the convenience and speed of fast food[3][5]. Today, Panda Express is recognized as the largest American Chinese restaurant concept in the world, with a presence that extends far beyond its California origins.
At the heart of Panda Express’s success is its menu, which features iconic dishes such as Orange Chicken, a recipe developed by Chef Andy Kao in 1987. This dish, along with other favorites like Beijing Beef, Kung Pao Chicken, and Chow Mein, has become a staple for millions of customers. The restaurant also offers a selection of health-conscious options, including steamed vegetables, brown rice, and grilled entrees, ensuring that there is something for everyone, regardless of dietary preferences. The wok-cooked meals, prepared fresh throughout the day, highlight the restaurant’s commitment to quality and authenticity, while the fast-food format ensures that customers can enjoy their meals quickly and conveniently[3][5].

First, my food was $60ish ...not bad for the family meal. They didn't have change for a $100 bill. 100 - 60ish = $30 something in change. How do you not have change for a big purchase? Then they didn't add plates and forks for the family meal. Eldest back in and got them. Found out later on during a situation that we also never got napkins. Would not recommend this 3rd rate establishment.

The manager was horrible and rude. She gave me a half empty plate and had me wait 15 minutes with a toddler only to give me a half empty plate and bowl. The noodles were not made correctly, they needed more cooking and the chicken was nasty. The manager during this time, June 7th at 4:20pm, was rude and unprofessional. Try someplace else because it is obvious that all the issues below have been going on for years and they haven't cared for their customers to correct all of them, starting with that nasty manager.

The worst Panda Express I have ever gone to in my life. Absolutely ridiculous service and insanely rude behind the counter. Go somewhere else. Side note, they also got three out of three orders wrong. It honestly seems like they’re TRYING to do poorly. It’s not laziness, I swear there’s real effort involved here in displeasing their customers. It feels like I’m part of a social experiment or something.

Everything was going well until I asked for a couple of extra sauce packets. We had ordered four dishes for seven people, as we really love spicy food. The manager's response was, "I can only give you four per order." I had no idea there was a limit on sauces. After that, the meal—which I had been thoroughly enjoying—turned into total crap.

I had a disappointing experience here. I was waiting nearby for a DoorDash/Uber Eats pickup from this restaurant and politely asked to use the restroom, but was told it is for customers only. I understand that businesses may have their own policies, but delivery drivers are part of the service ecosystem and help bring additional orders to the restaurant. A bit more understanding or flexibility would go a long way. I have also been a customer here myself from time to time, but after this experience, I don’t feel encouraged to return. I hope management might consider a more accommodating approach toward delivery drivers in the future.
